Bras, Bras, Bras

Happy Fall ...
OK, so here we go the mine field of bras ...
So, we have two tracks to go down:

1. Eco
2. A damn good fitting bra that lifts the girls up!

1. Eco bras can be well fitting and lift the girls up but I'll be honest if you have a larger chest i.e. D or 38 in and up it can be tricky. The advantages of Eco Bra is that you have the best natural fibres against your precious girls ... there is evidence that chemicals from everyday bra's can be linked to breast cancer. So this maybe really important to you and also if you are breast feeding or Pregnant. That's not to scare you, its just some more things to think about. So, Eco bras. I may be wrong but I have not found a suitable outlet to buy from in Vancouver. However finally online I have some great companies for you.

www.faeriesdance.com
Such an array of beautiful and practical bra's with matching knickers. Good Shipping to at $7-9 from the U.S.

www.kasperorganics.com
Now these guys have some really good practical bras not so pretty. Shipping around $21.75
But they do have a plus size bra too.

www.naturewearoraganic.com
Not so much choice and shipping unclear. But we are in cross over season so I'm sure their selection will improve with the season.

So these guys are my best finds in a minimal market.
However you are going to be fitting on your own this is a mine field ... watch this clip

It will give you some good basic advice. Get someone to help you too, if you can. Men are always willing helpers lol xxx

OKAY ...

2. So the average bra shop.
We are looking for two things here a 1. fitting service (Now don't be shy, the matronly lady of your youth rarely fits bra these days) they really know their stuff and products. 2. Lots of choice.

If you are financially challenged there is nothing wrong with La Senza - they fit well up to a DD sometimes E and 40-42 in.
In terms of corporate responsibility here's their
spiel
http://www.lasenza.com/eng/aboutUs/socialresposability.cfm

The next option is pricier but very, very well fitted. www.change.com
I can't vouch for their sustainability and social responsibility as they carry many brands. But if comfort, fit and a larger boob size is an issue these ladies are for you.

Or, hit you local department store The Bay, Sears etc They have a bra fitting service and lots of choice again we are at the mercy of the store in term of social responsibility.

So now you know where to go ...
What do you need?
Well, really you need a Black, White and a Nude Bra ... and then well maybe something else if you feel the need for sexy.
You should be changing those bras every 3-6 months as the elastic will stretch and you will not have the right support. When you buy a bra you should be using the widest attaching point and pulling in as the elastic slackens.

So, now you've spent a ton, how are you going to care for them ... simple either Hand wash or Wash them in a Bra Bag in your laundry and then AIR DRY never ever put them in the dryer!!!

I think that's it.
Other than to feel really amazing matching knickers/panties are just fabulous.

Here's to Lifting the Girls Skywards, Being Comfy and Loving them xxx

OK I'm back ...

Hi, It's been a busy year with my Masters and H1N1 and family and Operas and EVERYTHING and my commitment for the blog has been poor so here is a new fresh start.
I'll try and write more regularly and more briefly I want your feed back and sharing we are all in this together ...

So here is some fun ...
Think of 3 favourite items you have worn this summer ... Maybe they are new, maybe old and warn or maybe you even made them?

OK I'll tell you mine
1. Number one has too be the Aubergine Maxi Dress I got from the Gap. Its great it gives me a cleavage, a huge plus for my small bosom, it is empire line so my lack of waist isn't an issue and it shows off my shoulders. Best of all its soooo long.
2. My pink flat Aldo sandals, I have walked miles in them and yet they look attractive and sweet too.
3. My black and white wrap ankle length skirt, I found it two years ago in a Vintage store and I love it! I feel so long and sophisticated and it looks a bit Hawaiian in a strange way .... This year I found a cotton halter neck top from Value Village Thrift store and it is a super fabulous outfit.

So there you are my three. Number 3. Is serious Eco-friendly (the skirt is labelled as 1971) ... Number 1. Dress from Gap, Gap shows that they have a certificate and a corporate ethical policy but they are still multi national and we are talking shipping etc! Number 2. Aldo as far as I have been able to work out are not letting me walk around in shoes of hypocrisy ... I am still investigating Aldo but so far so good.

So here is info if you want it ...

1. Dress was from Gap

Halter Top from

So go on tell me your favourites ...

Transform yourself

p.s. I'm thinking we all ought to talk bra's the foundation of your outfit (Ques - would you live in a house without a Proper set of Foundations ... no ... so when did you last a) change your bra and b) Get a proper fitting ...

Fashion that Fits

Time to be honest : I have been a size 26 and a size 6. I have worn outfits that quite frankly would makes your eyes water. I have spent hours in front of the mirror wondering "Does my bum, thighs, leg, arm, chin .... look big in this" I have spent many hours disliking all I see and yet being terrified of hitting the shops because I don't feel comfortable/pretty/sexy/intelligent ... enough.
Now I still have bad days but more good days when most of the time I love what my outfit looks like. And the good days have given me a taste for great style. I now love clothes, shoes, handbags .... but most of all I like knowing what I see is comfortable, sexy, stylish and as ethical as it can be, so that the clothes reflect the women that I am. The idea of this blog is for me to share what I pick-up about clothes and fashion, how that works for real women (few people can pull off the Micro mini ... but most of us have a pair of legs that we should launch upon the world from time to time ... so how do we get that look ... I'll try and tell you!) and how in this individual centred world we can shop ethically and sustainably without looking a natural or man-made disaster.
Tell me what you think, lets talk clothes and have fun, cry about the fact that some days we hate what our clothes do to us - how sometimes even a Gucci suit won't help that, but what can keep us focused on accepting our beautiful-selves in the mean time. Share this stuff and we can all help one another.
So lets make a start just for one moment think ... today did I see someone looking awesome, beautiful, attractive? I bet most of you said yes ... here's a radical idea next time go tell them, whether it is their stunning red shoes, the cut of their coat, the way they applied their eye make-up or the stunning way their green coat made their beautiful eyes shine. Now you may feel a fool, but you will most likely make their day. By telling someone you provide what we all need - affirmation. Only do it if you're being honest and true but by doing so you help yourself work out what areas of style you admire and can begin affirming the style in you.

Go be beautiful xxx
