OK I'm back ...

Hi, It's been a busy year with my Masters and H1N1 and family and Operas and EVERYTHING and my commitment for the blog has been poor so here is a new fresh start.
I'll try and write more regularly and more briefly I want your feed back and sharing we are all in this together ...

So here is some fun ...
Think of 3 favourite items you have worn this summer ... Maybe they are new, maybe old and warn or maybe you even made them?

OK I'll tell you mine
1. Number one has too be the Aubergine Maxi Dress I got from the Gap. Its great it gives me a cleavage, a huge plus for my small bosom, it is empire line so my lack of waist isn't an issue and it shows off my shoulders. Best of all its soooo long.
2. My pink flat Aldo sandals, I have walked miles in them and yet they look attractive and sweet too.
3. My black and white wrap ankle length skirt, I found it two years ago in a Vintage store and I love it! I feel so long and sophisticated and it looks a bit Hawaiian in a strange way .... This year I found a cotton halter neck top from Value Village Thrift store and it is a super fabulous outfit.

So there you are my three. Number 3. Is serious Eco-friendly (the skirt is labelled as 1971) ... Number 1. Dress from Gap, Gap shows that they have a certificate and a corporate ethical policy but they are still multi national and we are talking shipping etc! Number 2. Aldo as far as I have been able to work out are not letting me walk around in shoes of hypocrisy ... I am still investigating Aldo but so far so good.

So here is info if you want it ...

  1. my three faves:
    - Columbia shorts I got at Winners - I am usually too self conscious to wear shorts, but these make me feel good, have a bit of stretch and are quick dry!

    - my keen sandals...I ADORE keen footwear and these are great because they cover the toes - I am notoriously clumsy and always tripping over things.

    - yoga tank top with built in bra i also got from winners - YAY for not wearing a bra! (though I am with you on your next post - getting a good fitting is key!)

    Love you.

  2. Laurena here!
1)fuschia lace top loose racerback tank from, uh, Army & Navy. This is one of the only items of clothing I have purchased new in 2010, but it's definitely not ethical. I like it because it feels sexy without showing too much off and with tiny boobs I can go braless.
2)light grey elastic belt with yellow and gold butterfly clasp. Bought from a vintage store. This looks great with everything and gives me the appearance of a waist.
3)purple old lady skirt bought from Value Village 4 or 5 years ago, before high waists were really back yet. I think I need to make myself a few more of these since it is getting a bit rugged around the edges and it is SO perfect for work.

All my bras are at least 4 years old. I have never had them properly fitted and the straps all fall down my shoulders at least 900 times a day. I am basically okay with this because bra salesladies terrify me.

  3. Cool, Love the idea of re-makig the skirts. I made my Mum a Wrap skirt from a pattern of my own 3/4 length A line wrap in her fav colour and she loves it.
Laurena what star no "new" clothes 2010 ... love it.
OK I'm going to go looking at Keen they sound cool Melanie ...

p.s. People if you can't fine 3 you love tell us 3 you hate and why too!!!

  4. hey ... found you through your post on nancy zimmermann's facebook :)

    1) a longish brown tank toppy thing, made from super soft hemp. bought it at a hemp store in vancouver that is no more. the feel of the fabric is sooo important to me!

    2) a flowery dress, sleeveless, with a shirred top. actually, i have four of them. bought the first one when i was in hawaii, had my friend buy me three more and ship them to me :)

    3) shoes! can i talk about shoes? there is this little shoe store in a tucked-away mall owned by this iranian guy. some of his clients are, uh, ladies of the night. his shoes are interesting, relatively good quality, and inexpensive, and i've been shopping there for years. i bought these gladiator type black sandals there that i get lots of compliments for and which, because they tie criss-cross fashion from the toes to the ankles, also provide fabulous support.

  5. A bit late to comment on this I'm sure, but heck, we're having a late summer still right? ;)

    1) The Columbia sandals I got for walking in...not terribly stylish but the most comfy pair of footwear I've bought in ages.

    2) My bras that I got at Change. Cannot tell you just how much better things have gotten for my posture and back since knuckling down and going in for a fitting/massive wallet-drain! ALSO they're pretty!!! Can't get much better than plus size bras that are actually pretty, flattering, AND come with matching knickers.

    3) This was bought mid-September so laaaaaaate summer, but a super cute knee length plaid skirt with ruffles at the back...little bit of flare to balance out the hips and it just sits perfectly. I love love love it!

  6. Gorgeous Green Lady
Can't wait to see that skirt. Its gonna look great with some legging/black tights as we cross over into fall. Yes, Bra's Changes are awesome.

    Hi. Isabelle
Sorry its taken so long to post!!! I want to know where this Iranian Shoe store is ... sounds wonderful. Yes if you find that dress that just works you feel awesome having 3 + is great. I know someone who has 8 shirts same make, same design but 8 colors she wears them with skirts, work suits, jeans and a sweater. They make her feel great and she isn't a T-shirt Girl. They are Banana Republic Ones ... pricey but if you build up then they are great. In-fact thats ine of my goals this season is to find a good shirt with long enough sleeves.
